Lightwater Valley plans wooden holiday home village

Lightwater Valley has revealed plans to build over 100 wooden holiday homes in the creation of Lightwater Valley Resorts.

The Valley Mania fansite today revealed the plans, which would see the construction homes in the wooded area stretching from the Ultimate rollercoaster to the Pub in the Wood close to the park’s entrance.

The North Yorkshire theme park has been planning a holiday village since 1997, but has failed to obtain planning permission from the local council, despite revised appeal.

Those proposals included plans for expansion beyond the theme park’s current boundaries, but the new plans are contained within the existing theme park.

The village would incorporate the wooded area of the theme park which lies to the east of the light railway line, including an area previously occupied by The Wave flat ride.

Outdoor activities

Acoustic fencing would be used to absorb sound from The Ultimate, which would see the introduction of a golf course within its track under the proposals.

Sports courts and fishing are also set to feature as part of the available activities offered to those choosing to stay in the village.

Tentative consultations with Harrogate Borough Council are ongoing and a final planning application is expected to be submitted before the end of summer.
