Alton Towers has begun testing the reconstructed Nemesis Reborn rollercoaster, less than two months ahead of its reopening.
On Friday, Alton Towers posted on X footage of the ride testing with water dummies.
The Bolliger & Mabillard manufactured rollercoaster is planned to reopen along with the rest of the theme park on 16 March.
The ride’s original distinctive roar was expected to have been lost due to sand in-filling of track and supports.
BBC Midlands Today ran a short feature on the ride’s testing on Friday, which did indeed indicate a more dampened sound.
However, in a personal video from the same BBC journalist, a track noise similar to the original ride was apparent.
Closed in November 2022, Nemesis has had wide-scale track and support replacements and has been repainted in black with red, vein-like livery.
Should the ride reopen on 16 March as planned, it will be 30 years to the day since the ride first opened to the public.
During the past 14 months, the rollercoaster’s track has been fully replaced between the top of its lift hill and final brake run.
The original layout has not changed, although certain sections have been structurally reinforced following years of foundational and fatigue deterioration.
