Alton Towers will not be hosting a Blue Light Card day of discounted entry this year due to “planned extended maintenance”.
In recent years, the theme park has opened early to Blue Light Card holders, the UK’s emergency services, NHS, social care sector, and armed forces.
The preview days typically took place during early March on the weekend before the park’s main season started.
On Tuesday, Blue Light Card confirmed on X that there would be no Blue Light day taking place at Alton Towers in 2024.
In response to a query, the account said: “Unfortunately, due to planned extended maintenance at the attraction, as well as extensive work being undertaken to bring back one of its major coasters, Alton Towers is unable to host an exclusive Member Day this year.”
The “major coaster” in question relates to the 16-month rebuild of the Nemesis rollercoaster and its upcoming relaunch as Nemesis Reborn.
Although not officially confirmed, the Bolliger & Mabillard ride is widely expected to re-open on the first day of the park’s main season, 16 March.
