Alton Towers’ reworking of the Air rollercoaster into Galactica has won Ride Rater’s Best New Addition 2016 award.
The ride beat Derren Brown’s Ghost Train at Thorpe Park, an experience which also uses virtual reality.
Galactica has a real edge over its rival because it’s VR is sensational, whereas the Ghost Train’s is too far-fetched.
Our winner perfectly combined an unorthodox riding position and g-forces with a good VR film.
