UK to relax visa rules for Chinese tourists

UK governmentThe UK government is to simplify the application process for Chinese visitors wanting to visit the country.

The move is likely to be welcomed by Merlin Entertainments chief executive Nick Varney, who has previously called for a relaxation of the rules.

In October last year, he said: “Millions of high-spending Chinese want to visit us, but they have an option: £52 for a Schengen visa giving access to 26 other EU countries, or £80 for a UK one only.”

According to the BBC, the new process can take less than five minutes and is widely expected to increase the number of Chinese tourists visiting the UK.
