Wallace & Gromit ride confirmed by Pleasure Beach

Blackpool Pleasure Beach has confirmed that it will open a dark ride based on the Wallace & Gromit franchise in 2013.

Rumours were sparked by animator Nick Park last year when he was quoted as saying he was working with the park on a new attraction.

The ride will be called Thrill-O-Matic and is currently under construction at the site of the former Gold Mine dark ride, with the previous transit system forming the basis of the new ride.

Park told the Blackpool Gazette: “We are really enjoying working with the Pleasure Beach team on this new ride and new format for Wallace and Gromit and can’t wait to get started on building all the props and set pieces.”

The ride will represent a £5.25 million investment and will also feature a gift shop selling Wallace & Gromit merchandise.

The project is being partially-funded by a £2 million loan from the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership.
