Alton Towers’ Rita rollercoaster remains closed for “essential maintenance” more than six weeks after it last operated.
The 2005-built Accelerator Coaster from Intamin last operated on 3 June.
Three days later, Rita was added to Alton Towers’ ride availability page, stated as being “closed for essential maintenance”.
The Staffordshire theme park’s last comment on the ride came on 5 July, when it said: “Rita is undergoing essential maintenance. We apologise for the disappointment caused.”
No opening date has been communicated, nor the ride availability page updated since 6 June.
The technical reason for Rita’s closure has also not been revealed by Alton Towers.
In 2012, the ride’s launch cable snapped during morning testing, which saw it closed for two days.
