Welsh amusement park Coney Beach Pleasure Park will close after this season, the Evans family owners have said.
Established in 1918, the Porthcawl attraction will close this October, its owners said.
“It is with heavy hearts we would like to share with you personally that this season at Coney Beach will be our last,” an Evans family statement read.
“It’s the end of an era, for over one hundred years we and other showmen and their families have lived and worked in Porthcawl helping to make it a busy seaside destination.”
The family added that it brought “fun, laughter and fond memories to so many”.
The reasons for the park’s closure have not bene disclosed, but the announcement follows plans by Bridgend Council and the Welsh government to redevelop the waterfront site of which the park forms a part.
