Merlin Entertainments has paused the sale of several of its Sea Life Centre attractions, after no acceptable offers were received.
On Wednesday, Sky News reported the pause had been made due to “insufficiently attractive bids” in a recent auction.
Sky said that private equity firms Epiris and Platinum Equity were among the parties that expressed interest.
It was revealed in February that Merlin was looking to offload several non-city Sea Life Centres.
Sea Life Centres at Brighton, Scarborough, Blackpool, Hunstanton, Great Yarmouth, Loch Lomond, Gweek, and Weymouth were understood to be affected.
The flagship National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham, the London Aquarium, and the centre in Manchester’s Trafford Centre were understood to be unaffected.
Merlin reported £492 million pre-tax losses for 2024.
