The union representing engineers working at Chessington World of Adventures has have called off strike action following agreements over pay being reached with Merlin Entertainments.

Last week it was announced that engineering staff would strike over weekends in May, including the month’s three Bank Holidays.

But today, the Union announced that an “improved pay offer” had been made by Chessington operators Merlin.

“A revised pay offer was made, which was worth an average of 13.53 per cent across the engineering bargaining group,” Unite said in a statement.

“Following a meeting of members the offer was accepted and the strikes called off.”

Chessington said that entry tickets are now back on sale for the dates that were due to be impacted by the action, after they were originally taken off-sale.
