Chessington World of Adventures has confirmed that its new World of Jumanji themed area will open to the public on 15 May.
The headline attraction will be Mandrill Mayhem, the reverse-launching wing rollercoaster from manufacturers Bolliger & Mabillard.
The shuttle rollercoaster will be supported by two SBF-manufactured flat rides called Ostrich Stampede and Mamba Strike.
Construction of the area has been delayed, with the project understood to have had an initial target for a March opening, RideRater understands.
A VIP ‘first to ride’ event will be held on 14 May for winners of a competition being held by Chessington.
Capacity
The Surrey theme park held a walk-around of the site for media and enthusiasts on Tuesday afternoon, where Mandrill Mayhem was seen testing.
Last month it was announced that the rollercoaster would have a 1.2-metre height restriction, after it was originally announced as being a 1.4-metre ride.
Once opened, its operating capacity and queue times are likely to receive considerable interest given its single, 28-seater train.
During the planning stages, the rollercoaster was described as having loading and running times both of 60 seconds, giving a theoretical capacity of 840 riders per hour.
