Man charged over Alton Towers knife attack

NewsA man from Leek has been charged by police following the stabbing of an Alton Towers worker within the park’s car park.

The incident occurred on 20 September at approximately 10:50pm and it is understood that the victim was one of the park’s hotel managers.

Carlos Antonio Fernandes, 37, has been charged with robbery, grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a bladed article.

He will appear at North Staffordshire Justice Centre next week, where it is expected he will enter a plea.

Various media outlets reported the victim as being Ian Stevenson, a duty manager at the Alton Towers Hotel.

He was reported as recovering at home after the incident came to light in the following days after the attack.
