A family has claimed that they were left stranded on Adventure Island’s Big Wheel ride when the park was closing for the night.
The alleged incident occurred at the amusement park in Southend-on-Sea and involved a couple and their three children.
Father Darren Riggs-Long told the Daily Mirror newspaper that he “couldn’t believe” the incident.
He said: “We were at the top of the wheel when the lights went out and staff started shutting the lights down on all the rides just before 10pm. It was cold and really dark.”
“We were calling out for about 15 minutes before a member of the public spotted us.
“The attendant came back and switched the lights back on and got us down.”
He added that his children has been “traumatised” by the incident and had subsequently suffered nightmares.
According to the Daily Mirror, Adventure Island has apologised to the family but declined to comment further.
