Alton Towers has reopened its latest rollercoaster The Smiler, several days after an incident injured two people.
Guide wheels were shed from the ride’s vertical lift hill on Saturday, hitting riders in the face.
A spokesperson for the Staffordshire theme park said: “We are pleased to confirm that The Smiler has reopened today, following remedial works on the lift hill chain guide systems.
“We have been working with the designers to review and replace all of the elements connected to this part of the ride , having now completed this work and the requisite safety testing, the ride reopened at 10.30am.
“We remain committed to ensuring that all of our rides meet the highest standards in all areas and we are sorry for any disappointment caused by The Smiler’s recent unavailability.”
Alton Towers begins its busy three-day fireworks event tomorrow, before closing for the winter.
