Thorpe Park is modifying The Swarm rollercoaster so that its rear seats will face backwards, in a new feature for 2013.
A new restraint system is also understood to be fitted to the back two rows of seats, which will provide riders with “nothing to hold onto”, according to the park.
Both trains are expected to receive the moification, making for a total of 16 rear-facing seats on the ride.
A new near-miss point described as a “mangled metal of a devastated billboard” will also feature on the Bolliger & Mabillard rollercoaster, which opened in March last year.
The park’s attendances in 2012 were reportedly below expectations following the addition of the £18 million ride.
