Aviktas, Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Blackpool Pleasure Beach has confirmed that the name of its new Intamin Gyro Swing ride will be Aviktas.

The 42-metre ride was revealed in August last year, after public business documents revealed a loan secured against that type of ride.

It will cost around £8.7 million, and its logo is accompanied by snake imagery.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, the Pleasure Beach said it would be revealing more details on the ride in stages.

Pleasure Beach Resort chief executive Amanda Thompson said: “We’re incredibly excited to reveal the name of our next major attraction, Aviktas.

“This is a ride like nothing we’ve ever created before, and while we’re keeping the full experience under wraps for now, I can promise it will be truly extraordinary.”

Drayton Manor’s Maelstrom is the only example of the Gyro Swing operating in the UK, but it is Intamin’s smaller, 23-metre model.
