Chessington World of Adventures is planning the construction of a new rollercoaster, a public consultation has revealed.
As part of “new investment and re-theming” of the Wild Asia area, a questionnaire on the consultation website refers to a “new rollercoaster”.
A partially indoor rollercoaster was also depicted at an in-person consultation event on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, the Greater London theme park said that it was also looking to progress previously-announced plans.
They include an increase in accommodation offerings, and the addition of an indoor waterpark.
Upgrades to car parks were also confirmed as forming part of the park’s longer-term plans.
‘Key to park’s future’
Chessington (CWoAR) said today that it would undertake widespread investment under the banners of ‘Project Refresh & Renew’ and ‘Project Play’.
“On-site accommodation and creating year-round facilities is key to the future of CWoAR,” the park said.
“There has been a real growth in short break holidays and many theme parks have changed from just a day visitor attraction to a place where visitors can stay,” it added.
Planning applications for both projects are expected to be filed between October and December this year.
Merlin Entertainments-operated CWoAR also said that it would relocate animals to within the Wanyama Village & Reserve area.
Previously there was suggestion that all animals would be gradually removed from the park, but no such indication was given in Wednesday’s update.
