The Hyperia rollercoaster has begun testing ahead of its opening at Thorpe Park on 24 May.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Mack Rides-built rollercoaster successfully completed a circuit with a dummy-laden train.
The Theme Park Worldwide YouTube channel shared live footage showing the train successfully completing a test run at about 13:50.
There were considerable so-called ‘hang-time’ moments as the train slowed through the track’s highest points.
Yesterday, Thorpe Park encouraged enthusiasts not to film the 236-foot ride’s testing process with drones.
The Surrey attraction said that drone flights could delay the ride’s commissioning timeline.
Hyperia’s top speed is expected to exceed 80 mph, making it the fastest – as well as the tallest – rollercoaster in the UK.
German manufacturers Mack have utilised their established lap-bar style train design, similar to that of Icon at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
With a height restriction of 1.3 metres for guests, it will be more accessible to younger riders than most of Thorpe Park’s thrill rides.
Hyperia also represents the tallest rollercoaster built by Mack to date.
