Alton Towers is charging annual and season pass-holders £20 for mandatory pre-booking for this autumn’s fireworks event.
Running between 5 and 7 November, pre-booking is required to guarantee entry, park operators Merlin Entertainments said.
Holders of Merlin’s Platinum Annual Pass will not be charged for pre-booking, but it remains a condition of entry.
Pre-booking admission has been a requirement for admission to all of the company’s attractions following capacity restrictions brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The £20 charge for the fireworks event is a new high at Alton Towers, but it brings the park in closer alignment with Merlin’s other UK operations.
Thorpe Park has retained its £25 pre-booking charge for pass holders attending this year’s Halloween Fright Nights event on peak evenings. That charge was introduced last year and drew considerable criticism.
