Wicker Man ‘unavailable due to maintenance’

Wicker Man rollercoaster, Alton Towers

Alton Towers has closed its Wicker Man rollercoaster for what the park describes as ‘maintenance’.

The wooden ride, which opened in March last year, has not operated since Thursday last week.

Responding to queries on Twitter, the park today said that the ride was closed for ‘maintenance’.

A Tweet posted this afternoon read: “We are currently carrying out some maintenance on the Wicker Man.

“We don’t currently have an exact time when the ride will re-open but recommend checking the digital screens or free app for updates on the ride status and queue times.”

It is understood that a mechanical issue with the ride’s chain lift system has led to the ride being shut down, although this has not been confirmed by the park.

Alton Towers said it apologises for any inconvenience.
