Slammer ride leaving Thorpe Park

Slammer, Thorpe Park

Thorpe Park’s Slammer ride is being removed from the theme park, owners have confirmed.

As previously reported, the S&S Power-built ride was confirmed as remaining closed throughout 2017.

Today its permanent removal from the Surrey theme park was confirmed.

“Slammer has now left the resort after its 12 year residency,” a Tweeted response to a guest read this morning.

Another added that it was “time for something new”.

Slammer has been dogged by reliability issues since it was installed at the park in 2005, seeing regular periods of downtime.

It is the only remaining Sky Swat model flat ride left in the world, following the closure of the US-based Catapult in 2013 – the only other model manufactured.
