Alton Towers Enchanted Village gets go-ahead

Alton Towers Enchanted VillagePlans for new accommodation at Alton Towers – which will be known as the Enchanted Village – have been given the go-ahead.

Staffordshire Moorlands District Council approved the plans last week, with around 140 jobs expected to be created by the project.

Plans for the Enchanted Village, which will open in Spring 2015, show wooden buildings described as ‘tree houses’ and ‘lodges’.

Mark Kerrigan, development director at Alton Towers Resort, said: “We are delighted to have been given the go-ahead on the Alton Towers Enchanted Village.

“The new accommodation will further enhance our position as a short break destination and also provide significant opportunities for the local area.

“We have worked incredibly hard in recent years to grow tourism in Staffordshire and are extremely excited about bringing this new concept to life over the coming months.”

The fairytale-themed area will feature five of the large wooden tree houses, as well as 120 smaller lodges.
