Alton Towers submits plans for 150 guest lodges

Alton Towers has submitted a planning application for the phased construction of 150 guest accommodation lodges.

Staffordshire Moorlands Council will consider the proposals, which are planned to be sited on grassed areas currently used for overflow parking, north of the park’s existing two hotels.

The park describes the concept of the lodges as “being based on myths and legends” and “conjuring up images of accommodation in a far off magical land.”

Construction would take place in two parts, with a number of lodges being available for the start of the 2014 season and the remainder a year later.

If accepted, Alton Towers expects the lodges to generate 25 full-time and 50 part-time jobs at the resort.
