Slammer re-opens after lengthy downtime

The Slammer flat ride has re-opened at Thorpe Park following months of downtime during 2012.

The S&S Sky Swat was testing during the week and for the first part of Saturday, until it later opened to riders in the afternoon.

Considerable maintenance and inspection of the ride is understood to have been the reason behind its closure, including large amounts of magnetic testing of welds.

Slammer’s re-opening will be seen as a timely boost to Thorpe Park’s ride capacity during the busy Fright Nights period, which started this weekend.

It was installed at the park in 2005 and is one of only two such rides in the world.
