Pleasure Beach Blackpool is to host veteran rollercoaster enthusiast Richard Rodriguez’s final record attempt this summer.
The 54-year-old American will ride the Big One repeatedly for 103 days between 31 May and mid-September.
He has reportedly broken 17 rollercoaster-riding records during a 32 year career, but has said that this will be his final swansong.
“I’m thrilled to be back at Blackpool Pleasure Beach for what will be my final record attempt,” Rodriguez told the Blackpool Gazette.
“The Big One is a great ride and will really test me to the limits of my endurance.
“One of the best things about a marathon is the people you meet and the great amount of support I get.
“I’ve been training for months to get fit and can’t wait to get riding now.”
He will ride for approximately eight hours per day, taking a five-minute break every hour.
