Thorpe Park will not open the Saw Alive horror maze again this season until the start of its Fright Night events in October.
Based on the graphic Saw series films, the walk-through attraction opened in 2010 and features numerous live actors.
it has operated on a part-time basis so far this season.
It was initially understood that it would open at busier times throughout the year, but the park’s website now states that it will be available only during the Fright Nights between 12 October and 3 November this year.
The move is widely interpreted as a cost-cutting measure, although a Thorpe Park statement said it took the decision after “careful consideration”.
The ScareTOUR enthusiast group quoted the park as saying: “We are sorry for any disappointment that this may cause but we are excited at the prospect of working on the attraction to ensure that when it returns over the Halloween period, it will truly live up to its description as the world’s most extreme live action horror maze.”
In April last year, the attraction suffered considerable damage when a fire broke out inside and remained closed for several weeks.
