Alton Towers submits former Black Hole site plans

Alton Towers today submitted a planning application for a new use of the site of the former Black Hole ride.

The former rollercoaster’s enclosing tent is to be modified or removed as part of the unknown project.

The tent has stood disused since 2005 – aside from its housing of two scare mazes during the park’s Halloween Scarefest earlier this year.

No further details currently accompany the applications, and it is not clear whether the site will be used to construct a new ride or some other attraction.

Documents will elaborate on further details, possibly as early as later this week.

There has been considerable speculation over whether or not the site will house the Secret Weapon Seven (SW7) major rollercoaster, due to open in 2013.
