Alton Towers increased guest numbers in 2024, according to the park’s divisional director.
In an end-of-year message, the park’s Bianca Sammut said that the number of people visiting in 2024 had increased year-on-year.
“I am proud that we exceeded our ambitious 2024 resort-wide targets – including increased year-on-year guest numbers,” Sammut said.
In March, Alton Towers operator Merlin Entertainments reported that its global visitor numbers for 2023 were some 5 million below pre-COVID-19 levels.
Alton Towers itself has seen considerable cost saving measures in 2024, with hours and ride availability significantly reduced.
“It hasn’t always been easy. Navigating the ever-changing UK travel market, tackling economic pressures, and meeting evolving guest expectations kept us on our toes,” Sammut said of the 2024 season.
The Project Ocean ride, a Huss Top Spin, is expected to open along with the rest of the Staffordshire theme park on 15 March next year.
And following testing seen this month, Sammut confirmed that the Skyride cable car was in the “final stages” of its two-season refurbishment.
