Vistors to Blackpool Pleasure Beach have increased by 4% this season, according to owners.
A spokesman for the amusement park told the Blackpool Gazette: “While trading conditions in the leisure market remain difficult, especially given the present economic climate combined with disappointing weather during the summer, Pleasure Beach is four per cent up on last season.”
The upturn is thought to be largely the effect of the new multi-million pound Nickelodeon Land themed area, which was opened this year with council funding.
The spokesman added: “The opening of Nickelodeon Land in April has had a fantastic response from visitors. We’ve seen a significant increase in the number of guests enjoying rides in this area of Pleasure Beach.”
The park ends its main season next weekend, with a two-for-one offer on ride wristbands.
