Rumba Rapids, Thorpe Park

Thorpe Park has given more details of ride and attractions closures taking effect from next month.

The previously advised closure of the Rumba Rapids ride has been clarified as being for “winter maintenance”.

The Intamin-manufactured water ride will close from 9 September, and not reopen in 2024.

Meanwhile, it has been announced the Amity Beach water park area will be closed from the same date, with it being described as a “seasonal attraction”.

On Wednesday, Thorpe Park also announced that the Hyperia rollercoaster would be closed between 22 and 27 September for “maintenance”.

No further details have been given around the closure of the Mack Rides rollercoaster.

Dates traversing a Sunday and Friday suggest that the closure is necessary to enable continued operation during the peak Fright Nights season.

It is the first major closure of the 236-foot ride since major operational issues plagued the rollercoaster for several weeks after opening.
