Alton Towers divisional director Bianca Sammut has said that the Hex ride should reopen by this autumn.
The Vekoma madhouse-type dark ride has been closed for more than 12 months.
Sammut said that the 2000-built ride had been receiving “extensive maintenance”.
In a video released on Friday, Sammut said that the work was more than “originally scoped”.
She added that it was “still absolutely the case” that Hex was planned to reopen at some point this season.
New technology and effects were also described in the video update.
Meanwhile, Sammut also confirmed on Friday that the recently-announced tours of the Towers ruins would be the only way they could be accessed at this time.
Previously the Towers ruins were open for much of the theme park’s season, and allowed for free unrestricted access.
