Flambards theme park in Cornwall has announced that it is removing four of its established thrill rides.
The Helston park said it was “retiring” the rides “with sadness”, citing availability of parts as a key issue.
“After many years of faithful service, we are sadly retiring a number of our thrill rides,” a statement read on Wednesday.
Being removed are the Thunderbolt, Sky Swinger, and SkyForce flat rides.
The Zierer-manufactured Hornet rollercoaster is also leaving the site, after almost 30 years.
On Friday, the BBC quoted Flambards as saying it would be adding rides for younger guests going forward.
‘Not made lightly’
“This decision was not made lightly and we understand that these rides have been favourites for many of our guests over the years,” Flambards added.
“The ongoing shortage of specialist parts has made the maintenance increasingly challenging for these rides, and the safety of our guests is and always will be our top priority.”
Opened in 1976, Flambards said it was reducing the cost of admission, as offering season pass holders a £20 discount to reflect the reduced ride offering.
The park has also announced it will temporarily close between 10 and 30 June to remove rides, and “prepare for the summer and make some park updates”.
