92% of respondents to a survey regarding the proposed Universal theme park in Bedford are supportive of the proposals.
In a letter to local residents on Thursday, Universal Designations & Experiences (UDX) said it was “delighted” with the support.
“We are assessing the detailed feedback we we received but are delighted to see evidence of such strong support,” UDX said.
1,500 people attended recent public consultations, and over 6,000 responded to a survey on the proposed theme park.
Less than 4% were “not supportive”, Comcast-owned Universal said.
Due diligence continues
UDX said that it agreed with concerns raised around transport and infrastructure requirements.
The company added that it will now continue due diligence and stakeholder communication, ahead of any final decision to proceed.
Last week, UDX said it was preparing a planning submission, but also stated that a final decision had not been made.
If given the go-ahead, it would mark Universal’s first branded theme park and resort in Europe.
The UK government could decide on the project rather than local authorities if it is subject to a special development order (SDO).
