Skegness Pleasure Beach founder Botton dies

Bottons Pleasure Beach Skegness

Jimmy Botton, the man who founded Skegness Pleasure Beach in its current form, has died at the age of 86.

Taking over the Lincolnshire site from Billy Butlin in 1965, Botton’s son, Jimmy Botton Jr, and grandsons now run the park.

Originally a travelling showman, Botton established Skegness Pleasure Beach in the image of equivalents at Blackpool and Great Yarmouth.

Botton Jr said that the number of tributes his family had received were “very kind and touching”.
