Lightwater Valley is targeting an annual attendance figure of 500,000 guests as part of its long term ambitions.
The North Yorkshire theme park currently attracts an average of around 330,000 and receives considerable regional competition from Flamingo Land, 45 miles away.
In an interview with the Valley Mania fansite, Lightwater Valley marketing manager Ashley Young said: “The long-term aim in terms of visitor figures would be to break through the 500,000 barrier.”
The park is currently in its second year of a five-year plan of investment which last year saw the enclosed Sewer Rat rollercoaster re-themed into the dinosaur animatronic-featuring Raptor Attack.
2011 will see the addition of a new pirate-themed area named Skeleton Cove, featuring a number of flat rides.
The park opens its gates for the first time this season tomorrow (9 April).
