Alton Towers has added a new flat ride called Twistatron to its Retro Squad lineup of hired attractions.
The new addition is the custom-built Star Fighter ride, and will be located on the site of the former Enterprise ride, which has been removed from the park.
Operating as Twistatron the new ride will site adjacent to the Spinjam ride in the X Sector area of Alton Towers.
In March 2021, the Staffordshire theme park added three travelling rides in response to reduced capacity issues caused by COVID-19 social distancing requirements.
Their addition has attracted some criticism for their apparent lack of appropriate theming, but Alton Towers has pitched them as temporary ‘retro’ visitors.
A launch video was accompanied by a loose backstory that the rides were transformer-type characters originally headed for Alton Towers in 1980, but had somehow been diverted.
The Roller Disco waltzer was removed at the end of last season after spending two years in the Dark Forest area of the park.
