Lightwater Valley has recorded a near-tenfold increase in pre-tax losses, the theme park’s latest accounts show.
In the year to 31 January 2014, the North Yorkshire attraction’s losses deepened from £55,964 to £508,852.
A spokesman was quoted on the Insider Media website as identifying snow fall in March 2013 and the park’s delayed start to the season as being a cause of the losses.
“The arctic conditions which followed resulted in a very challenging Easter period, a difficult hit to take at the start of the season,” the statement said.
“There is no doubt the extreme weather conditions make it harder and harder for outdoor attractions to succeed.”
Meanwhile, North Yorkshire theme park Flamingo Land has seen profits fall from £2.37 million to £1.4 million in the year ending 31 March 2013.
