Blackpool Pleasure Beach has announced that its new launched rollercoaster Icon will open on 25 May.
Constructed by German manufacturers Mack Rides, the £16.25 million attraction is currently in a testing at the Lancashire amusement park.
Pleasure Beach’s deputy managing director Nick Thompson, said the launch of the ride was represented an “extremely exciting day for our industry, both in the UK and beyond”.
“We couldn’t be more pleased to see and experience it here in the UK and to showcase another world first at Blackpool Pleasure Beach,” he said.
Icon will operate under a marketing phrase of ‘Dare to Ride’, which has been pushed on social media during the past months.
The ride is the first major original rollercoaster installation at Pleasure Beach since the Big One rollercoaster opened in 1994.
