The shop for the Air rollercoaster at Alton Towers is to be converted into a restaurant under new plans.
A planning application for the development was lodged with Staffordshire Moorlands Council earlier today.
It is understood that the restaurant will be similarly themed to the FoodLoop establishment at Germany’s Europa Park, where food is delivered to tables via miniature rollercoasters.
Under the proposals, a “new retail area” would be created, through which Air’s riders are expected to be channelled upon exiting the ride.
The Forbidden Valley area of Alton Towers is widely expected to at least partly feature the park’s next major ride addition in 2017.
