Wipeout, the Vekoma boomerang rollercoaster located at Pleasurewood Hills, is to remain in operation despite a series of complaints over noise levels.
Residents in the area have made complaints about sound levels coming from the ride since it was brought to the park in 2007, but its future is no longer under threat following a recent local council meeting.
Council officers have now now set less strict noise limits on the park than what were in place before.
A report from the council’s environmental health officer report said: “The proposed change is reasonable in the context of the efforts made by officers, the park’s management, engineering team and equipment suppliers over the period since the ride was installed. The revised wording would allow the ride to operate, while protecting neighbours against a rise in noise levels from the Wipeout ride.”
Wipeout previously operated as the Missile at the now defunct American Adventure theme park in Derbyshire.
It is one of only two Vekoma Boomerang rollercoasters in the UK, the other being further up the east coast at Pleasure Island in Cleethorpes.
