A five-year-old girl has suffered a broken leg following a ride accident at a funfair in Seacombe, Merseyside.
The type of ride involved is not currently known, but the girl was standing close to the ride rather than being on it.
The girl’s grandfather Mike Sanders told the Liverpool Echo newspaper: “The fairground staff were doing maintenance on the ride when the car flew off it.”
He added that no one was on the ride at the time of the accident.
The incident occurred on Saturday, and the Health and Safety Executive have visited the site to begin an investigation.
Fairground operator Alan Cowie said: “We would like to extend our sincere apologies to the little girl and her family and we hope she makes a speedy recovery.
“The last thing we want is for someone to get hurt at one of our fairs when they have come to enjoy themselves.”
