The on-the-day admission price to Alton Towers will increase by £1 when the park’s main season begins on 16 March.
In recent years, Merlin Entertainments has adopted a strategy of increasing its theme park admission prices several times within a season.
Alton Towers’ admission price rose by £3 in three smaller increments during the course of 2012.
Previously, the park had increased its annual admission one a season-by-season basis only.
However a large number of ‘2 for 1’ promotional vouchers are typically circulated by Merlin which are valid for all of its attractions in the UK.
Earlier today the park’s Twitter account told a user that they “can’t say for sure” that the new rollercoaster will be open for the start of the main season, as originally advertised.
Currently dubbed SW7, the ride has been dogged by rumours of construction delays for weeks.
