Iconic Nemesis ‘blood water’ runs clear

The Nemesis water had been dyed reddish-pink since the ride opened in 1994

Alton Towers has removed dye that previously gave the water features surrounding the Nemesis rollercoaster their iconic red colouring.

The reasons for the move have not been revealed, but it is understood that the prolonged heavy rainfall in July is responsible.

Water was running clear over the weekend after the park stopped adding the colouring which had previously given a tone similar to that of blackcurrant cordial.

The park revealed on Twitter that the colour loss was a “temporary issue”.

Opened in 1994, the Nemesis rollercoaster features dramatic landscaping based around a large excavation featuring ‘rivers of blood’.
