Storm Darragh has forced organisers of London’s Hyde Park Winter Wonderland to close the seasonal fairground on Saturday.
The closure follows an earlier rare weather-related closure on 24 November.
In a statement on Friday, Winter Wonderland said: “In line with the Royal Parks’ closure of Hyde Park due to high winds, we will not be opening on Saturday 7 December.”
“The safety of our visitors and staff are our top priority and we are sorry for any disappointment caused.
“All affected ticket holders have been contacted directly and will have the opportunity to reschedule or refund their tickets.”
The event runs until 5 January, and organisers said there was “plenty of availability” for other dates for those looking to reschedule.
Winter Wonderland is expected to reopen on Sunday.
Theft allegations
On Thursday, the Metropolitan Police told the Daily Mirror they had received 12 allegations of theft at this year’s Winter Wonderland.
“We are investigating all reports of thefts made to us since Winter Wonderland opened last month,” the police said.
“We know that opportunistic criminals target areas of high footfall and tourism, such as Winter Wonderland.
“We advise everyone to remain vigilant of their surroundings in crowded areas. All crimes, including thefts should be reported to the police straight away.
“The Met’s website has a list of steps to help protect your mobile phone, and to support you from becoming a victim of crime.”
