Nemesis Reborn: Application for new ride name

Nemesis, Alton Towers

Alton Towers operator Merlin Entertainments is seeking a trademark for ‘Nemesis Reborn’, the likely new name for the rebuilt Nemesis rollercoaster.

In an application filed with the UK Intellectual Property Office on Tuesday, registration classes include “rollercoaster rides” and clothing.

The 29-year-old Nemesis ride closed in November last year ahead of widespread track and support replacement works.

It is expected to reopen at the start of Alton Towers’ 2024 season and feature dramatic changes in imagery, including black-colour track.

The rollercoaster’s layout will be unchanged and the original 1994 track will be retained in the lift hill and station areas.

Meanwhile, the Nemesis Sub-Terra dark ride is expected to be re-launched this season to help mitigate the effects of the season-long closure of Nemesis.
