London Eye records busiest summer ever

Visitors to the London Eye have increased by 8% this summer compared to last and have now passed the 42 million mark overall.

The wheel’s operators, Merlin Entertainments, say that 10% of those taking a summer “flight” were from the United States.

The firm’s division director for their London attractions, David Sharpe, said: “The Royal Wedding and other international events have helped to boost our success.  In 2002, during the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, we also saw an incredible influx of guests, but this year has now trumped that.

“We’re looking forward to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics next year, when we’ll be ready to welcome each and every visitor with a regal London Eye experience.”

Standard adult admission currently costs £18.60 when purchased on the day.
