Mystery over new Pleasure Beach wheel trademark

Head Above the Clouds

Blackpool Pleasure Beach owners have registered a trademark under the name of ‘Head Above the Clouds’, it has emerged.

Accompanied by a logo suggestive of a large Ferris wheel, the trademark was registered with with the UK’s Intellectual Property Office on 5 August.

In February, a private limited company known by the same Head Above the Clouds name was founded, with Pleasure Beach managing director Amanda Thompson listed among its directors.

The registration of a separate business entity suggests that a stand-alone attraction away from the Pleasure Beach could be in the works.

The application for the trademark was first filed in May of this year.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach and its trademark correspondent, Sonder IP, have been approached for comment.

The amusement park opened its first major Ferris wheel, Rainbow Wheel, in 1912.
