Chessington World of Adventures has been granted planning permission for what is expected to be a Jumanji-themed area and rollercoaster.
Kingston Council gave the proposals the green light on Friday after more than two months of delay from the original decision due date of 8 November.
In what has been dubbed ‘Project Amazon’, a new jungle-themed area will be centred around a boomerang-style shuttle rollercoaster.
The new area of the Surrey theme park is widely expected to be themed around the Jumanji franchise after concept art revealed footpaths comparable to the films’ board game.
The rollercoaster itself would represent the first installed at Chessington since the launch of Dragon’s Fury in 2004.
