Ensō: Icon rollercoaster to get spinning seats

Icon, Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Blackpool Pleasure Beach has confirmed that the Icon rollercoaster will be partially fitted with spinning seats.

Operating under the name of Ensō, the changes will be installed by the ride’s original manufacturer Mack Rides.

In what is is being marketed as a first in Europe, Pleasure Beach says that two seats on the back row will “spin and twist freely during the ride’s existing thrilling duration”.

Confirmed as coming in 2022, the updated Icon’s reopening date has not yet been confirmed, but is currently earmarked for “Spring” next year.

With two spinning seats available per train, an access and queue system for the Ensō aspect is expected to be revealed prior to the ride’s re-opening.

The Valhalla dark ride will also re-open in 2022 following extensive refurbishment undertaken in an attempt to increase the ride’s sustainability.
