Boy falls from Excalibur 2 in Camelot accident

A boy has fallen from the Excalibur 2 flat ride at Camelot theme park in Lancashire, according to local newspapers.

The 12-year-old was taken by air ambulance to hospital in Wigan after the incident which occurred at around 1300 this afternoon, reports the Lancashire Evening Press.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, but a joint police and Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigation is now underway.

The chief executive of the park’s operators, Knight Leisure, were quoted as saying: “At this stage, we do not know the full extent of the injuries sustained and our thoughts are with the young boy and his family.

“Until we have more information to hand, it would be inappropriate to make any further comment.”

Eye witness accounts state that the boy fell from a height of around 30 feet.

The ride, a Fabbri Evolution, has been impounded by the HSE and will not operate again until they have determined it is safe to do so.
